Penelope Cruz In L’Wren Scott – 2011 Oscars

Best Dressed Couple Award
I refused to believe that Penelope Cruz just had a baby.
The Spanish actress looked breath-taking in red at the 2011 Oscars tonight.
Her fiery L’Wren Scott Spring 2011 gown was decorated with sequins, but she still added more sparkle with Chopard jewels.
Penelope comes second to Nicole Kidman when it comes to loving L’Wren Scott work.
I hope she’s not in any hurry to lose her baby weight, because I think she looks perfect the way she is.
It’s so great to see her back on the red carpet again.

Scarlett Johansson In Dolce & Gabbana – 2011 Oscars

Missing MoJo Award
When you think of Scarlett Johansson and Dolce & Gabbana, you are expecting a jaw dropping moment.
At the 2011 Oscars ScarJo wore Dolce, but my jaw is still perfectly intact.
In fact I find this Bordeaux one of a kind Dolce & Gabbana lace gown with an open back quite boring and dated.
Nicole Kidman would have worn this dress back in 1999.
This dress is doing nothing for the Dolce & Gabbana cosmetic and fragrance brand ambassador.
I was hoping this would be the chance she would get to prove she hasn’t lost her mojo, but I think this only confirms it.
What happened to the blonde bombshell we all knew and loved?

Michelle Williams In Chanel Couture – 2011 Oscars

Most Improved Award
After being universally classed as frumpy at the 2011 Golden Globes Awards Michelle Williams redeems herself at the 2011 Oscars tonight.
Her Chanel Spring 2011 Couture fully beaded gown has been modified from the runway to have a slinkier silhouette, which I’m sure you’ll all agree is a huge improvement.
It wasn’t just the dress I loved, but the whole package.
The hair and make-up were also vastly improved from the Globes.
She took that criticism and turn it into perfection.

Michelle Williams In Valentino – 2011 Golden Globe Awards

On The Fence Award
Michelle Williams opted for a floral Valentino Resort 2011 gown at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards.
Her daisy printed organza gown with embroidered leather flower straps is beautiful, but I still trying to decide if it was the right choice for the Globes.
What I know for sure is that she needed greater support around her bust, because things are looking a tad droopy in that department.

Amy Adams In L’Wren Scott – 2011 Oscars

L’Wren Scott Isn’t Just For Nicole Kidman Award
On Nicole Kidman’s Oscar post, some of you have said, “At least she’s not wearing L’Wren Scott”.
Well Amy Adams is going to make you eat your words because I think she looked outstanding on the red carpet at the 2011 Oscars tonight wearing a dress from L’Wren Scott’s recent Fall 2011 collection.
The purple caviar-bead embroidered dress was worn with emerald and silver Cartier jewels.
I think I prefer the darker coloured accessories as presented on the runway.
Salvatore Ferragamo black satin shoes and Hollywood waves completed her look.

Nicole Kidman In Christian Dior – 2011 Oscars

My honest immediate reaction to Nicole Kidman’s Christian Dior Spring 2009 Couture gown at the 2011 Oscars was dislike.
After looking at her white bustier column gown with silver embroidered details a few more times, I think it’s growing on me.
I don’t love it, but there is something about it that’s keeping me interested.
Had this gown been in a deep purple colour like Natalie Portman’s gown I think I would’ve been persuaded to love it.
I think the major problem is that Nicole isn’t really selling the look.
The Australian actress continues to have a love affair with Pierre Hardy heels. On this occasion she opted for a coral peep-toe sandal.

Halle Berry In Marchesa – 2011 Oscars

Beautiful, But Isn’t She Always Beautiful? Award
There always has to be at least two Marchesa gowns at major events.
Hailee Steinfeld wore the first and Halle Berry wore the second Marchesa look at the2011 Oscars tonight.
The Oscar winning actress was glowing – literally – wearing a nude and crystal encrusted corset Marchesa gown with organza and silk tulle ruffles.
Had this look been a black plunging gown I would’ve been very disappointed.
I’m glad despite her woes she made the effort.

Hailee Steinfeld In Marchesa – 2011 Oscars

Self Design/Best Dressed Teen Award
Hailee Steinfeld couldn’t look more prefect if she tried tonight at the 2011 Oscars.
She made her dreams dress come true by sketching this dress which was later created by Marchesa.
The pale ballet pink crystal embroidered tulle tea length dress was paired with champagne coloured peep-toes and a silver clutch.
Hailee looks adorable and age appropriate like she has all awards season.

Florence Welch In Valentino Couture – 2011 Oscars

Best British Export Award
We usually see Florence Welch at music awards, but as one of the performers at the2011 Oscars she was also walked the red carpet.
She opted to wear a Valentino Spring 2011 Couture maxi dress.
I’m glad she stayed true to her style by wearing this yellow long sleeve dress with pleated organza and chantilly lace. I love the romantic nature of this look and the flowing tiered skirt.
We are well used to seeing Florence wear this type of colour, so in future I’d love to see her be more daring with colours as she is with her style.

Rebecca Hall In Mulberry – Mulberry Fall 2011 Presentation and After-Party

Rebecca Hall showed her support to Mulberry this weekend as she attended both their Fall 2011 presentation and after party.
Her first look was a cute pair of Tippi shorts paired with a matching jacket which both have oversized pockets.
The rest of her look included Carter booties and a grey Mulberry Taylor Ostrich satchel.
I love this look – yes even with the tights – it’s like a cute first day back a school look.
For Rebecca’s second look at the after-party, I’m guessing she loved Look 25 when it was presented on the runway, because she wore the dress with an embellished vest.
I find both looks very charming as they reflect Rebecca’s style perfectly.

Isla Fisher In Elise Overland – “Rango” Berlin Premiere

Isla Fisher was in Germany this weekend for the Berlin Premiere of her new movie, “Rango.”
The Australian actress wore an Elise Overland dress.
I’m not too fond of her red lace dress. It’s a pretty colour but I wish it wasn’t a turtleneck.
A lower neckline would’ve been preferred.
I’m also not fond of her heels. Her brown suede Louboutin’s feel like a last minute/’this is all that was available choice.’

Rihanna In Prada – “Reb’l Fleur” Fragrance Launch

Rihanna is back to doing the girlie thing after wearing many couture looks last week.
She attended the launch of her new perfume, “Reb’l Fleur,” at Macy’s Lakewood Mall in Lakewood, California on Friday.
She looked super cute wearing a Prada ensemble which included a metallic cropped long sleeve cardi paired with a printed bell-shaped skirt.
Gold hoop earrings and tan Prada ankle strap pumps completed her look.
As cute as this look is, I wish the cropped cardi wasn’t so obviously a DIY job.

Kate Bosworth In Calvin Klein – Calvin Klein Fall 2011 Presentation

Kate Bosworth looked adorable in orange whilst taking her seat in the front row at the Calvin Klein Fall 2011 presentation during New York Fashion Week last week.
She wore a sleeveless dress which she paired with Derek Lam black booties and a Derek Lam Ram’s Head Buffalo leather mini bag.
I’ve been well over the ankle boot trend for a while now, but Kate makes them work with her look to give her uptown look a downtown vibe.
I love her super straight blonde locks and flawless make-up.

Alexander McQueen’s Flowery Etched Boots as created for Lady Gaga

Alexander McQueen flowery etched boots
Behold your eyes for the most unbelievable shoes you have ever set your eyes upon. These Alexander McQueen Flowery Etched Leather Boots are the torch bearer of fashion. They are poetry in motion. Fusing feminine suppleness with male bike ruggedness is a fashion that McQueen excels at. Here, it reflects a Byzantine-influenced gold-hue flowery etched heel accrued with black leather and buckles.

Black Leather pedestal boots with golden flower-etched heel sizes up to 6 inches with 1.5 inch platform. Specifications show poignant toe, elaborate cut-out bridge, stimulating croc effects on heel and toe, a back tab, and zippers on both side.

Lea Seydoux In Elie Saab Couture – 2011 Cesar Film Awards

Lea Seydoux wore my favourite look from the Elie Saab Spring 2011 Couture collection to the 2011 Cesar Film Awards in Paris last night.
The young French actress was nominated for Best Young Actress for her role in “Belle Epine.”
She looked breath-taking wearing fully-embroidered black gown, with stone-white lace empire-line bodice which cap sleeves.
Whilst not being keen on the white scarf draped around her arms, she does to justice to this stunning gown.
I had pictured it on someone older like Angelina Jolie or Marion Cotillard, but she as young as she is Lea manages to breathe old Hollywood glamour into this look.
Definitely a BDOTW contender.

Versace Fall 2011

The Versace Fall 2011 woman is strong and sexy – as always.
The military inspired collection included tailored coats, fitted dresses with swirls and snakes set into dresses, coats with furry sleeves, feathered dresses, leather jackets paired with flared leather skirts and the finale gowns had trains decorated with feathers.
The key accessories included open-toe lace up boots and leather totes.
Front Row: Poppy Delevigne and M.I.A.
Favourites: Haltered beaded gown with feathered train which I see as an Oscar worthy gown and yellow feathered mini dress
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Blake Lively, January Jones, Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Ciara, Elizabeth Hurley, Michelle Yeoh, Charlize Theron, Cheryl Cole and Tinsley Mortimer

2011 Cesar Film Awards

Last night in Paris the 36th 2011 Cesar Film Awards was hosted by Jodie Foster.
The actress looked stunning wearing a gorgeous silver gown.
Kristin Scott Thomas was nominated for Best Actress wore an Elie Saab Spring 2011 Couture short black dress.
Her gorgeous dress was embroidered with flowers and organza bands to which she added and Elie Saab black fox-fur bolero and black python clutch.
Elie Saab completed a hat-trick of dresses on the red carpet with Emmanuelle Beart wearing a gown from his Fall 2010 collection.
The French actress who was presenting on the night wore a printed crèpe de chine black and beige gown with buttoned and sequined lace and grosgrain top.
She added a fur coat and an Elie Saab black clutch.

No. 21 Fall 2011

Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s No. 21 collections are receiving a lot of celebrity attention at the moment, so I was keen to check out the new Fall 2011 collection.
The sweet yet sexy collection would shift from blouses and pencil skirts to dangerous plunging necklines on a peachy, buttercup, metallic silver, pink, white, black and grey colour palette.
We saw lady-like secretary dresses, shimmering sweaters, sweater dresses, plunging necklines, a pastel blouse paired with metallic pencil skirt, cute cardi’s, cigarette pants, boxy feathered jackets and lace dresses.
The feathered and laces look caught my attention. The feathered looks had plenty of movement on the runway, whilst the lace looks had a sultry innocence about them.
This was a beautifully simple collection with wearability, sex appeal and personality.
Key accessories included orange earrings and t-bar pointy pumps.
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Kate Bosworth, Zoe Saldana, Ginnifer Goodwin, Megan Fox and Camilla Belle

Emmy Rossum In Christian Dior – Harvey Weinstein Pre-Oscar Party

Last night Emmy Rossum was seen leaving Harvey Weinstein’s Ppre-Oscar party held at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, California.
The “Shameless” actress wore a Christian Dior Spring 2011 modified dress.
Her blue and white printed haltered dress is preferred off the runway as I love the addition of the flounced hem.
Unfortunately I don’t like her Dior accessories which are too bland for such a cute look.
After attending many shoe showroom appointments today during Milan Fashion Week, I have been reassured that celebs have many footwear options available to them, so why do they keep picking the same selection of uninspiring heels?

Rihanna In Mark Fast – 23rd Birthday Party

Rihanna celebrated her 23rd birthday with a Nivea sponsored party at a private residence in Beverly Hills on Sunday.
She shook her famous booty wearing a Mark Fast Spring 2011 dress.
Mark Fast’s voluptuous creations are designed to highlight the female form. This nude and purple handmade knit mini-dress with tassels does it effortlessly.
There are very few women who can actually work this look without fear – Rihanna and Kylie who is also huge fan of Mark Fast.
I think most women would be petrified to wear one of Mark’s sexy dresses, but then most of us don’t have fabulous figures like Rihanna and Kylie.

Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011

Much like the Philosophy Fall 2011 collection, the Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011 presentation opened with 60s inspired coats and dresses on a colourful palette of purple, eggplant, teal and orange.
A-line above the knee dresses had graphic prints adorned with crystal details. Others had delicate ruffles which ooze that sweet femininity we all expect from Mrs Ferretti collections.
Coats also had the same graphic print embellished details.
I was keen to see the gowns which entered the runway from look 40.
We saw flutter sleeves, one-shoulder detail, haltered necklines and stunning shimmering embellishments.
I hoping Look 40 is being shipped to LA for Sunday’s Oscars as I type.
Key accessories included velvet thigh-high boots some of which were embellished.
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Demi Moore, Sophia Bush, Christina Ricci, Kristen Bell, Becky Newton, Dita Von Teese, Carrie Underwood, Moon Bloodgood, Paz Vega and Vera Farmiga
Soundtrack: Adele – Rolling In The Deep (remix)

Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011

I always love attending Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti presentations, because it’s such a select crowd. Despite there being no setting assignments there is no drama.
I always feel like a kid in a room full of grown ups.
The Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011 presentation was doubled because the model took to the runway wearing a coat, but by the time she had returned she had removed their mod-inspired swing coats to reveal the gorgeous look she was wearing underneath.
I adored this collection which was full of pastel pretty colours of pink, yellow, mint, and lavender.
The prim pieces which include cropped pants, shift dresses, pussy bow blouses and babydoll dresses wouldn’t look out of place on the set of ‘Mad Men’.
60s chic at its finest. If you are a girlie girl you are set for Fall 2011.
Key accessories included chunky two tone Mary Janes in pastel tones.
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Elle Fanning

Anna Dello Russo In Balenciaga – Gucci Fall 2011 Presentation

After the Gucci Fall 2011 presentation we spotted Anna Dello Russo entertaining the paparazzi and style bloggers.
Claire from The Fashion Bomb Daily papped the ‘Runway to Sidewalk’ Queen in her natural habitat wearing a colourful Balenciaga Fall 2007 jacket.
She paired her jacket with red leggings, a pink Bottega Veneta clutch and Prada wedges.
Only Anna can slam all these colours together and make it work.

Claire’s Life : Milan Fashion Week Fall 2011 Day 1 by Claire

COURTESY: As soon as I popped off the plane, I met up with my girls Charlotte of Style Cartel andCatherine of Red Carpet Fashion Awards, then we all hopped over to the Gucci show:

Continuing with their teal, rust, emerald green, lilac, and lime colors of their Spring 2011 line, the house played with fur, feathers, and wide brimmed hats for Fall.
Shearling hippie style coats took precedence, along with fox, mink, and goat hair jackets topped off with silk and tweed skirt suits. I ooh’ed and aah’ed when Jourdan andChanel took the stage, and whooped it up when Joan Smalls closed the show!
Afterwards, I took a few pictures of models off duty:

Jourdan was kind enough to stop and say wassup.

And Joan looked biker chic in a fur lined leather jacket, skinny sequined leggings, and lace up boots.
After Gucci, we hopped in a cab to the Alberta Ferretti show:
I caught up with blogger Bryan Boy, who was looking fierce front row in a cuccoon like fur hooded cape:
Here’s a better picture of Bryan’s fit:
He’s a trip!
It’s been quite an exciting trip so far. Tonight I’m going to just have a good dinner and rest up for tomorrow!
Stay tuned for more instances from my European fashion whirlwind.
A few more pix, just for fun:
