Fan Bing Bing & Carina Lau In Valentino – Valentino Fall 2011 Hong Kong Show

Yesterday in Hong Kong, Valentino presented their Fall 2011 collection at The Landmark, Central.
Creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli made their debut appearance in Hong Kong at this much-anticipated fashion event which was attended by our favourite Asian stars.
Fan Bing Bing was of course at the show looking gorgeous – as always – wearing a Valentino Spring 2011 gown.
Her nude gown with a black sheer overlay is accented with black and white floral appliqués and polka dots.
The actress accessorized with a nude thin belt and a Valentino floral appliqué satin clutch.
I love her long wavy hair swept to one side and her red pout.
This will be the second time Fan Bing Bing has seen this Valentino Fall 2011 show, because she also saw it the first time around in Paris.
Carina Lau was also at the show.
She opted for a red Valentino ruffle gown which was also from the Spring 2011 collection.
This striking red ruffled gown has layers of silk-chiffon and satin. It perfectly encapsulates the label’s romantic aesthetic and was the stand-out look from the Spring 2011 collection.
Alexa Chung wore this same gown when she was presenting live at the Golden Globe Awards.

Double Denim Sidewalk Style: Charlize Theron In Current/Elliott & Rag & Bone

I remember back in the 80s when double denim was the look.
It then became really unfashionable for a while despite Britney Spears and Justin Timberlakes best efforts to make the look cool again.
Charlize Theron proves when worn right it can be quite a sexy look.
The South African actress was spotted headed to a Spa in Hollywood yesterday wearing a light denim Current/Elliott Perfect shirt with dark denim Rag & Bone jeans.
The faux-pas looks has become fashionable.
Double denim was seen on the Ralph Lauren, Chloe and D&G Spring 2010 runways so why do I still not want to jump on this trend?
David Beckham and Alexa Chung have also managed to pull of the DD look.

Alexa Chung Front Row @ Valentino Fall 2011

Alexa Chung was also front row at Valentino’s Fall 2011 presentation during Paris Fashion Week.
I really like this Valentino Pre-Fall 2011 creamy leather dress with ruffled details, lace bodice and bow accent.
Yes the tights do bother me but I can live with them, it’s those shoes that crush me the most.
They make Alexa look so flat footed. I would’ve loved some heels with this look.
Alexa was snapped by Street Style photographer Tamu from ‘All The Pretty Birds’ outside the venue.
The blue coat and the tights work on that occasion.

Front Row @ Chanel’s Fall 2011 Presentation

With Blake Lively back in New York City filming ‘Gossip Girl’, Chanel had to rustle up a B Team to fill their front row yesterday.
Lily Allen made a welcome return to the front row wearing a green tweed Chanel Pre-Fall 2011 coat which she paired with a bright red Chanel quilted bag.
The other Brits in the front row were Florence Welch who managed to pick yet another floral floaty dress from the Chanel Spring 2011 collection.
Alexa Chung wore a cream long sleeve mini dress with grey tights and black pumps, and Welsh singing sensation Duffy opted for a tweed Chanel shift dress which she managed to make look like a Zara copy.
Clemence Poesy oozed Parisian chic in the front row wearing a black and white tweed jacket, grey top and black flared skirt.
Emma Roberts and Anna Wintour made up the Americans support in the front row.
Emma opted for the cutest most adorable baby blue Chanel dress from the Spring 2011 collection, whilst Anna did wear a look from the host on this occasion.
Her floral printed colour dress – which she paired with her favourite satin boots – is from the Spring 2011 collection.
It looks like she had it modified so the leather jacket has a fur trim.

Valentino Fall 2011

Valentino’s Fall 2011 presentation showcased a divinely charming romantic collection.
Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli gave us ultra feminine pieces with ruffles, tiers, embellishments and lace which glided down the runway so beautifully.
We saw halter dresses with a lace bodice and pleated skirt, leather coats, wool coats, sheer blouses, tapered pants, cashmere cardigans embellished with studs and day dresses on a colour palette of nude, burgundy, navy, green, baby blue and saffron.
Luxe knits and fox furs will ensure we are kept warm this coming Fall.
We saw lots of floral prints and floral appliqués which accented many looks. I also loved feather accents and the tromp-l’oeil feathers on chiffon dresses.
If you’re looking for romantic grown-up elegance this is definitely the collection for you.
Key accessories included python print boots, black headbands, clutches, totes and ankle strap pumps.
Front Row: Alexa Chung, Florence Welch, Fan Bing Bing, Kanye West, Natalia Vodianova, Caroline Sieber, Bianca Brandolini d’Adda, Delfina Deletrez Fendi and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Jessica Alba, Florence Welch, Eva Mendes, Hailee Steinfeld, Alexa Chung, Fan Bing Bing, Jennifer Aniston, Elle Fanning, Camilla Belle, Ginnifer Goodwin, Keira Knightley, Kirsten Dunst, Leighton Meester, Cate Blanchett and Sarah Jessica Parker

Runway To Gare du Nord – Alexa Chung In Burberry Prorsum

Alexa Chung and I will never be besties, but that won’t prevent me from taking a keen interest in what she wears.
Today she was spotted at Gare du Nord in Paris disembarking the Eurostar.
She’s obviously in town to taking in many Paris Fashion Week shows and parties.
The DJ/TV presenter wore a Burberry Prorsum quilted leather biker jacket from the Spring 2011 collection, with a black polka dot shirt, black tapered pants and spiked brogues.
This looks is trying to tell us it’s effortless, but it’s been manicured right down to the positioning of her scarf.
Alexa wasn’t carrying her namesake bag.
Instead she was carrying a Charles Anastase for Longchamp Le Piagle Tote bag which is illustrated with Persian cats.
The bag was created to celebrate the 20th birthday of ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode).
ANDAM promotes emerging French and international fashion talent. Longchamp worked with 3 previous winners to create limited editions of the Longchamp Le Pliage tote.

Aquascutum Fall 2011

I only attended one show during London Fashion Week and that was Joanna Sykes’ first presentation for Aquascutum.
Like Burberry and Mulberry, Aquascutum is a much cherished British brand so the pressure would have been on Joanna to deliver.
She did as she gave us many basis with modern unpretentious twists.
We saw lots of forever statement pieces, clean line, sharp cuts and a playful mix of textures and colours.
Bold colours like orange and vivid blue were presented alongside black and some neutral colours.
Tailored pants, skirts, blouses, knit sweaters, shearling trimmed jackets and a black oversized jumpsuit were presented in this collection.
The key theme of this collection was layering as shorts were paired with dresses and one look had a cropped blazer over a longer blazer.
Front Row: Sarah Cameron
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Alexa Chung, Kristen Stewart, Lily Donaldson and Daisy Lowe

Soundtrack: Lykke Li I – I Follow Rivers (remix)

Alexa Chung In YSL – 2011 Elle Style Awards

Still On The Right Track Award
Alexa Chung walked the red carpet at the 2011 Elle Style Awards which was held in London last night.
She opted for a YSL Spring 2011 ensemble.
The look included a short sleeved blouse paired with a ruffled skirt. Both pieces had the YSL distinctive black fingerprint motif.
Black suede YSL heels and a black clutch completed her look.
This is a good look for Alexa. She seems to be on a roll.
I’m sure she made the effort because she was the host of this event.
