The Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 collection started quietly but ended very dramatically.
The first few looks got me thinking that the designer was opting for a more minimalist approach to Fall, as we saw simple grey looks with just a few embellished details around the neckline.
Then the presentation picked up pace rather quickly as the next few looks hit the runway with more colour, texture, volume and structure.
Valli presented his signature cocoon shaped coats and dresses which would’ve delighted his socialite fans in the front row.Shift dresses, shaggy furs, floral print coats, leggy pants, ruffled dresses, peplum skirts and drop-waist dresses hit the runway.
I loved the models hair which was a skewed half-up half-down ponytail.
Pops of yellow, red, hot pink and gold stood alongside the mostly black, white and grey collection.
The shoes varied from spiked brogues, to booties and pointy ankle boots.
I was expecting a dramatic finish and the designer didn’t let me down.
He ended his presentation with two stunning gowns with long trains. The red dress was spectacular. I’ve never seen anything move so beautifully down the runway.
Can’t you just picture this dress on the red carpet at the Met Gala?
Kate Beckinsale will be going gaga for this dress. It’s so her as she loves a long train.
This was a very charming and sophisticated collection which will appeal to a wide range for women from those who lunch to the downtown chick who will love the shaggy furs. Kate Lanphear would look great wearing on of those furs.
